Dublin Goes Red launched to Celebrate the Chinese New Year
English · 2020年1月22日
On Jan. 16, the famous iconic Samuel Beckett Bridge across the Liffey River in Dublin was lit red for the first time ever. The launch ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador He Xiangdong and his wife Mme. Xia Lining, Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin Tom Brabazon, and Niall Gibbons, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland.
Samuel Beckett Bridge was named after the well-known Irish writer and Nobel Literature Prize laureate Samuel Beckett, whose Waiting for Godot has been one of the most popular theater works in China.
"Light up with Chinese Red" is an initiative first put forward in Dublin City and later followed by many other cities and counties in Ireland. For the past five years, China Red has been lit red on many places across Ireland to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
